Ruchoma szopka w Bardzie
The panoramic moving nativity scene was created in 1970 to commemorate the 700th anniversary of the pilgrimage to Bardo. It was built on the site of a former crypt where monks had been buried until 1803. After the remains were exhumed, a nativity scene was set up there.
Currently, it is one of Bardo's tourist attractions. The nativity scene is distinguished by its rich colors and numerous moving figures. Its history and the unique atmosphere of the place inspired Olga Tokarczuk's short story "Bardo. Nativity Scene."
During the summer season (April to October), the Nativity scene is open weekdays from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM; on Sundays and holidays from 10:30 AM to 2:30 PM.
During the winter season (November to the end of March), it is open weekdays from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM; on Sundays and holidays from 10:30 AM to 2:30 PM.
On Christmas Day and St. Stephen's Day, after Masses at 9:30 AM and 11:00 AM.
The Nativity Scene is closed:
New Year's Day (January 1); Corpus Christi; All Saints' Day (November 1); All Souls' Day (November 2); Holy Week, Easter Sunday, Easter Monday, and Christmas Eve (December 24).
